Lou Miller Kuhne
Lou Miller Kuhne was born April 30, 1929, in Winnfield, La., to Moses Clark and Mildred Miller.
She graduated from Louisville (Miss.) High School in 1946; from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. in 1948; and from George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tenn. in 1950. At Peabody, she was a member of Zeta Kappa Tau. Lou married Cecil Kuhne in Louisville, Miss. on Oct. 1, 1950.
They moved to Lubbock in February 1958. From 1983 to 1986, she completed post-graduate work to obtain her membership in the American Society of Interior Designers. She has worked with H. Deane Pierce and Associates for 20 years. Lou taught Sunday school from her college days until two years ago. Most years, she taught the 5th grade class. Lou was a member of the Junior League of Lubbock and the Buddy Lunch Group with Friends. She and her husband were currently members of the Generations Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil; a daughter, Kathy Kuhne Vick, both of Lubbock; two sons, Cecil Kuhne III of Dallas, and Craig Miller Kuhne of Cincinnati, Ohio; and two grand-children, Stephanie Louise Kuhne and Christopher Kuhne.
One son, Clark Kuhne, preceded her in death on July 30, 2000.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jay E. Horton and Dr. James F. Jackson officiating. Services are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
