Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Layton McDaniel, 76, of Downsville, LA will be held at 2:00PM Monday, November 20, 2006, at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church-Downsville, LA with Rev. David Barkley officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery-Downsville, LA, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home-West Monroe.
Mr. McDaniel was born October 21, 1930, in Downsville, LA and died November 17, 2006 in West Monroe. Mr. McDaniel was a retired truck driver, and a proud member of The Teamster Union. He was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville and was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Oma Richardson McDaniel. Mr. McDaniel and his childhood sweetheart, Billie, enjoyed 56 years of wedded bliss.
Survivors include his wife, Billie McDaniel of Downsville, LA; three children, Dr. Robert McDaniel and wife, Kimberly of Hendersonville, TN; Diane McDaniel and Joye Young and husband, Donnie of Downsville, LA; five grandchildren, Joe Layton McDaniel, Elliott McDaniel, Foster McDaniel, Danielle Young and William Young; special buddy and friend, Sue Barney; and a special cousin Frankie Estep, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Buck Frost, Larry Estep, Garland Bearden, C.C. Bayless, Jerry Antley and John Banks.
Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 9:00PM Sunday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home-West Monroe.
