CANFIELD
Ernest Wallace Canfield, 81, went to be with Jesus on July 15, 2005. Born on December 29, 1923, to Henry R. and Robbie Eran Canfield. He lived all his life on Jamestown Road, formally ``School Street'' in Escatawpa, Miss.
He was an active lifetime member of Safe Harbor United Methodist Church (formally Escatawpa United Methodist). He retired from Maintenance with Moss Point Schools in 1985. Many people will remember him for the number of years he provided school bus services for the children of Jackson County and Moss Point Schools.
Mr. Canfield was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Henrietta Canfield Bertram; and two brothers, Carl Edward (Pot) and infant Ray Canfield. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Alda Rae Williams Canfield; one daughter, Twila Canfield; sisters Vicki (Dowe) Oliver, O'Redus Dees, Robbie Lee (Glenn) Hardy, and Clara Hudson all of Moss Point, Miss.; sisters-in-law Nola Canfield of Mansfield, La., Alla Mae Chattom of Eight Mile, Ala., and Alice Fae (Terry) Johnson of Gautier, Miss.; brother-in-law Billie Wayne (Shirley) Warren of Little Elm, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He will also be sadly missed by his two grand-dogs, Cino and Gabby Canfield.
Visitation will be Sunday July 17, 2005 from 6p.m. until 9p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Miss.
Funeral services will be Monday July 18, 2005 at 11a.m. from the Safe Harbor United Methodist Church in Escatawpa, Miss., with the Rev. Gene Vance, Rev. John Tucker and Rev. Larry White officiating. Burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, Miss.
The family would like to request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Safe Harbor United Methodist Church Building Fund. The family would like to express their appreciation to his doctors, Wound Care Center at Singing River Hospital, and the staff of Hospice of Light for all the loving care given during his illness.
Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be his close neighbors Glin Colvin, Sonny Ehlers, Glenn Beckham, and also members of his Sunday School class. Arrangements by Holder-Wells Funeral Home of Moss Point, Miss.
