Junior Robison

LAFAYETTE -- Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004, in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Junior Robison who died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at his temporary resident for the past two years, Evangeline Oaks Guest Home.

The Rev. Marshal Clotiaux and the Rev. Ken Burke will officiate.

Interment will take place in Fountain Memorial Gardens, 1010 Pandora, Lafayette, LA 70506

On May 8, 2004, Junior Robison, of Lafayette, La., ended his battle with Alzheimer's and made his final journey to our Lord Jesus. Junior was born on Aug. 26, 1924, in Cotton Valley, La. to Ernest W. (Slim) Robison Sr. and Laura Price Robison. He was the third oldest of seven children. He was married to Juanita Dunn Robison for 57 years and resided in Lafayette, La. since 1965.

He is survived by his brothers, Donnie Gene Robison, of Ringgold, La., and Horace Glen Robison, of Carthage, Texas; one sister, Gloria Robison Middlebrook, of Beaumont, Texas. His immediate family survivors are his only daughter, Brenda Gail Robison Nettles married to Ken Nettles of Lafayette, La., his sons, Dennis Robison married to Debbie Wiggins Robison, of Lafayette, La. and Glen Robison married to Deedie Sewall Robison, also of Lafayette, La. He has seven grandchildren, Wes Robison, Rhonda Robison Shirah, Scott Robison, Randi Nettles Denning, Glen Robison II, Laura Robison, and Luke Nettles. He also has four great-grandchildren, Derek Robison, Aaron Robison, Grant Shirah and Paul David Denning.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Slim Robison; brothers, Jim Roy Robison and Buck Foster; sister, Irene Foster Vaughn; and his wife, Juanita Dunn Robison.

Junior was an employee of Penrod Drilling Company for approximately 41 years and retired in 1983. He was a member of Spanish Trail Country Club of Cade, La. where he was an avid golfer with a terrible swing, but deadly on chipping. He loved to hunt and fish especially with his children and grandchildren. He was a 32nd degree mason, and a member of the Lafayette Optimist Club.

He was a loving and caring man with a big heart and will be missed by all who knew him.

Pallbearers will be Wes Robison, Scott Robison, Glen Robison II, Ray Robison, Ricky Robison, and good friend, Martin Lyons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Nettles, Roy Robison, Clovis Boudreaux, Dwayne Shirah, and the employees of Penrod Drilling Rig No. 51.

The Robison family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to Evangeline Oaks Guest House and their entire staff and Louisiana Hospice and Palative Care of Opelousas.

Visitation will be observed from 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at 1 p.m. Delhomme Funeral Homes, 1011 Bertrand Dr., are funeral directors in charge of the arrangements.
