HEBERT WOMAN SUCCUMBS HERE
Mrs. Estelle McDonald Curry, aged 49, of Hebert, died at the local hospital, Sunday, March 28, at 6:15 p.m. Her death came as a shock to her many friends and relatives throughout the parish. Mrs. Curry, with the exception of a few years spent in Richland parish, had spent most of her life in ward 8. She was the wife of “Little” Holt Curry, a son of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Curry Sr. of the Eastside; her mother, Mrs. Vashita [sic Vashti] McDonald resides in ward 8.
Besides her mother and husband, she leaves to mourn her departure, a daughter, Mrs. E. E. Holloway, a resident of Delhi; and a son, D. H. Curry, III, of Columbia. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Sherwood Poole and Mrs. Carl A. Williams of Hebert, and Mrs. A. A. Harveston of Clarks; her brothers are Thomas (Tebo) McDonald of Crowville, Charlie McDonald of Hebert, Will McDonald of Columbia, John McDonald of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Jim McDonald of Pioneer.
Services were held at Old Bethel Baptist Church at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. W. M. Miles of Tullos in charge. Interment was made in Old Bethel cemetery under the direction of the Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.
