BAREFIELD, ESTELLE FREE SMITH

Died 8:28 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 1995, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. She was 78, a native of Archibald and resident of Zachary. She was retired with the East Louisiana State Hospital after 21 1/2 years of service.

Visiting was held at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, 5:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at Second Baptist Church, Jackson, 10 a.m. until religious services at 3 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Barnes, assisted by the Rev. James Taylor. Interment in church cemetery.

Survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Dee Harper, Rayville, Rowena and Dean Williamson, Winnsboro, Wilma and Bill Hales, Shreveport, and Charlotte and Charle Bergeron, Zachary; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Horace F. “Hoss” and Carol Smith, Tallulah, and Curtis R. Smith, Zachary; two sisters, Margaret McCartney, Rayville, and Lady Fuller, Pineville; a brother, Edgar Free, Archibald; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Preceded in death by two husbands, Isom Smith and Frank Barefield.

Pallbearers will be eight grandsons.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church, Jackson, and Home Bound Ministry for First Baptist Church, Zachary.
