MARSHALL -- Funeral services for Esther Myrle Sutton Hensley, 75, of 1605 Meadow, Marshall, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday from the Austin Street Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home with the Rev. Mary Avis and the Rev. Dan Minor officiating. Burial will be in Algoma Cemetery, North.

Mrs. Hensley died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 1991 at Merritt Plaza Nursing Home after an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 7, 1916 in Natchitoches, La., a daughter of William David Sutton and Blanche Elizabeth Meyers Sutton. She married Thomas Shelton Hensley on Sept. 7, 1940 in Jefferson. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Woolworth and Matthewson Drug Company. She was educated in Marshall public schools and was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3969 and served as an officer for several terms. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #276 of Smiley Summers. She was a member of the Texas Womens Bowling Association for 28 years, and was active in many community volunteer positions.

Survivors include her husband of Marshall; two sons, David Shelton Hensley of Richardson and Gerald Wayne Hensley of Uncertain; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharilyn and Evan Oney of Longview; two granddaughters, Lisa Carnes of Irving and Kristy Livingston of Tyler; one sister, Mildred Ford of Marshall; two brothers, W.D. Sutton Jr. of Longview and Chester Sutton of Flower Mound; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Nolan in 1984 and Silvia Shartz in 1965.

Flowers are permitted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers will be David Applebaum, Gene Walker, Bob Diechnick, Ronnie Henry, Wally Hanson and Ned Dennis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Dahmer, Cecil Weir, Bill Sullivan Jr., members of the Marshall Fire Department, members of the V.F.W. and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
