Ethel Garland
Mrs. Ethel Garland, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 10, at her residence in the Woods Community.
A life-long resident of Panola County, she was born Jan. 2, 1897, the daughter of John Andrew and Mattie Twomey McDaniel. She was a housewife and a member of the Woods Methodist Church and the WMU of the church.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Jimerson Funeral Home, with Rev. O.L. Howard and Rev. Joe Hillyer officiating. Burial will follow in Woods Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bob Beaty, Carl Campbell, Gene Campbell, Jake Campbell, Rayburn Green, Jimmy Jones, Andrew McDaniel and Russell McDaniel.
Mrs. Garland was preceded in death by her husband, W.S. Garland, and one brother, Theodore ``Buck'' McDaniel.
Survivors include three brothers, Herman McDaniel and Robert McDaniel, both of Carthage, and J.W. McDaniel of Bowling Green, Ky.; three sisters, Katie Garland of DeBerry, Amy Anderson of the Woods Community and Annie Faye Jones of Carthage; and a number of nieces and nephews.
