Etta B. Whittington

Etta Lee Butler Whittington, 84, of Gloster, died Feb. 9, 2000, at Franklin County Hospital in Meadville.

Visitation is 6-9 tonight at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy in Gloster, with the Rev. Bobby Greer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Whittington was born June 8, 1915, in Amite County. She was the daughter of Purvis Butler and Mattie Lee Whittington Butler. She was a homemaker and a member of Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy.

Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jake Butler, Elise Butler and Willie Butler; and five sisters, Leana Bass, Vera Forman, Lucy Dixon, Nora Arnold and Beulah Morris.

Survivors include her husband, J.B. Whittington; one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Bubba Hughes of Woodville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Teleda Whittington of Baton Rouge, La., and Joseph Lee and Ott Whittington of Port Orange, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jody and Natalie Whittington, Jim Whittington, Sam Whittington, Heather Whittington, Will Whittington and Janie Whittington; one great-grandson, Jacob Tyler Whittington; one brother, Howard P. Butler of Prairieville, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
