Eugene Fowler
Eugene Fowler, 82, of Moline, Illinois, died peacefully Sunday, April 9, 2017, in his home, with his loving family around him.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rock Island County Animal Care & Control.
Gene was born March 1, 1935, in Kaufman, Texas, to Hugh and Sudie (DeMasters) Fowler. He served in the U. S. Army, and married the love of his life, Earlene McCallister, on March 19, 1955, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a barber at Esquire Barber Shop in Silvis for 20 years. He then was employed by Moline School District #40, from 1970 to 1987, and then Hickman Mills School District in Kansas City, Missouri, until 1993. He was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and had many interests, including gardening, renovating houses, watching his grandkids sports events, reading, following national politics, and spending time with his family.
Gene is survived by his wife of 62 years, Earlene; two children and their spouses, Kathy and Brian McCaulley and Dave and Cindy Fowler, all of Moline; five grandchildren and spouses, Grant and Laura McCaulley, Megan and Rowdy Frederiksen, Zachary Fowler, Cam Fowler, and Shannon Fowler; five great-grandchildren, Luke and Rachel McCaulley, and Cooper, Micah and Bennett Frederiksen; and seven siblings, including Frank and Jack Fowler of Colona, Illinois.
