Mrs. Freeman, Pike Matron, Is Widely Mourned

Funeral services for Mrs. Lloyd Freeman, beloved young matron of the Mt. Zion community on Route Four, Magnolia, were scheduled for ten Wednesday morning from Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Mrs. Freeman passed away in a local hospital at the age of 26 years at 10:30 Monday night following a severe illness of several weeks' duration. She was born in Pike County Oct. 2, 1928, and had lived all her brief life as one of its citizens.

Rev. T. D. Sumrall, pastor of East McComb Baptist Church, will be conducting minister at last rites, in the stead of his son, Rev. T. D. Sumrall, Jr., who is pastor at Mt. Zion church but who is attending seminary at this time.

The body will like at the home of her mother, Mrs. O. C. Pounds, Route Four, McComb, until hour of services. Mrs. Freeman leaves her husband, Lloyd Freeman; a daughter, Sylvia Lynn, and a son, Lloyd R. Freeman Jr., all of Magnolia; her mother, Mrs. O. C. Pounds, Magnolia; five sisters, Mrs. G. B. Webb, Roxie; Misses Vivian and Inez Pounds, both of Magnolia; Mrs. M. L. Westbrook, McComb, and Mrs. Charles Webb, Shamhurst, Ohio; four brothers, Wright, Cecil and Earl Pounds, all of Magnolia, and T/Sgt. Clyde Pounds, Warington, Eng., a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home in charge of services.
