Eva Lee W. Canton
Eva Lee Whittington Canton, 80, of McComb died Oct. 25, 2001, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Visitation is 5-8 tonight at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb, and 9 a.m. Saturday until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. Ted Bowlin will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Canton was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Crystal Springs. She was the daughter of Lee Eugene and Minnie Puckett Whittington.
She was a homemaker and a member of South McComb Baptist Church since 1942, where she was flower chairperson for many years and active with teaching Sunday school and Girls In Action. She was a graduate of Southwest Mississippi Junior College. Her family said she was known for keeping in touch with friends and family through phone calls, cards and letters.
Mrs. Canton was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Canton.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Floyd W. Canton Sr. of McComb; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Sandy Canton of Weatherford, Texas, and Gary and Dixie Canton of Summit; two daughters and sons-in-law, LuAnn and David Allred of Smithdale and Ellen and Ray Williams of Franklinton, La.; a brother, Elmon Whittington of Hot Springs, Ark.; a sister, Faye Henry of McComb; seven grandsons, Jason, Steve and Craig Canton, Jacob Williams, Josh Allred, and Matt and Jeff Jordan; four granddaughters, Kerrie Nell Patton, Misty Spears, Orianna Dickerson and Becky Williams; 11 great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Cameron Canton, Eli, Cade and Bo Canton, Madison and Hanna Belle Canton, Sabrina and Shyannah Coleman, Miranda Spears and Tyler Williams; and a special friend, Jessie Miller.
Pallbearers will be Jason Canton, Matt Jordan, Jacob Williams, Jeff Jordan, Lamar Patton and Bo Dickerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Canton, Craig Canton, Eli Canton, Madison Patton, Cade Canton, Tyler Williams and Bo Canton.
