EVELYN HUBBARD THOMAS
EVELYN HUBBARD THOMAS of Little Rock went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001. She was born in Tuttle, Okla., where she graduated from high school, followed by her graduation from Oklahoma City Business School. In 1931, she married her childhood sweetheart, W. Jack Thomas, who died in 1986. She and Jack lived in several states due to his work requirements, raising their son Jack C. Thomas, who died in 1988. They retired and moved to Little Rock in 1973. During her active years she was an avid golfer, playing at Pleasant Valley Country Club where she was a member of the Lady Golfer's Association, playing until 1992. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Agape Sunday School Class, Pleasant Valley Garden Club, 39ers Club, and The Shepherd's Center.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Shirley Thomas Brown and husband, Taylor of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Cindy Thomas Pugh and husband, Tom of Little Rock, Jill Thomas McIntyre and husband, Andy of North Little Rock; a sister-in-law, Rubie Hubbard of Little Rock; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, followed by a chapel service at the funeral home Tuesday at 10 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Guy Whitney.
