Evelyn Finuf

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Evelyn Stovall Finuf, 88, died on August 30, 2012 at LifeCare after a short illness. Services celebrating her life will be at 11:00, Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Ken Irby, Senior Minister at Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Finuf was born in Dodson, LA to D.M. and Louella Stovall in 1923. She was a long time resident of Shreveport where she graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1940.

She was a lifetime member of the Methodist church. While members of Broadmoor Methodist, Evelyn and her late husband, Melvin, were charter members of The Couples' Class. She was a lifetime member of the Women's Society of Christian Service. Evelyn was a member of the PTA while her children were in school. Evelyn and Melvin were avid bridge players.

Mrs. Finuf was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Ann Teresa Stephens, grandson, Michael Finuf, and granddaughter, Melissa Dian Drewry, parents, sisters, Velda Prince, Maurine McCarty, Sarah Fouts, and Carlotta Ferguson, and brothers, D.M. Stovall, Jr., Samuel Woodrow Stovall, Karl Stovall, John Stovall, and Rev. James Stovall.

Evelyn is survived by two sons, Buster Finuf and wife, Kathy of El Dorado, AR and Mike Finuf and wife, Susan of Sugarland, TX; granddaughter, Kristin Smith; step-grandson, Mike Sweat; and great grandsons, Brady Allen Smith, Ethan Mackey Drewry, and Caison Asher Smith.

Honoring Evelyn, as pallbearers will be John Prince, Lonnie Fouts, Dan McCarty, Bob Stovall, Jimmy Ray Fouts, and David McCarty.

The family requests memorials may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church.

Her legacy lives today in the faces of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
