LAST RITES FOR EVERETT SHELLEY WHITTINGTON

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 19, 1989 for Everett Shelley Whittington, 92, a resdient [sic] of Amite County. Rev. Thomas Roberts and Rev. Hugh Lambert officiated.

Mr. Whittington died Saturday, June 17, 1989 in the Centreville Health Care Center of Centreville. He was born October 1, 1896 in Amite County, the son of Eugene Whittington and Virginia Steele Whittington. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Tanner Whittington; a son, S. J. Whittington; an infant son; and two infant daughters.

He is survived by four daughters: Sadie Wilkinson, Etta Rollinson, Mary Rollinson and Faye Dunaway; three sons: Sam, Leonard and Marvin Whittington; 31 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.

Burial was in Whittington Memorial Cemetery in Gloster.
