Former Resident Is Buried Here

E. B. Humphries Dies Of Heart Attack

Word was received in this parish by relatives that Mr. Ezra B. Humphries had died Sunday from a heart attack. He was residing in Baton Rouge at the time of his death, having moved thert [sic there] several years ago. He was a former resident of Caldwell parish, being a grandson of Daniel Humphries, one of the pionetr [sic pioneer] settlers of this parish. A brother, Harper Humphries, is a prominent planter of the Copenhagen community in ward 10.

Funeral services were held at the Shiloh Methodist church near Holum Monday evening, with the Rev. Sam Holladay of the Columbia Methodist church in charge of the services.

Interment was made in the Welcome Home cemetery east of Grayson under direction of the Revenhorse [sic Rabenhorst] Funeral Home of Baton Rouge.

Besides his wife he leaves four sons: Pete, Boyce, Bill and Dan, all of Baton Rouge; two daughters Mrs. Oper H. Scott, who is stationed in Europe, and Marilyn of Baton Rouge, also several grandchildren.

Mr. Harper Humphries is the only living brother. Oscar Humphries, another brother who resided in Columbia for years, preceded him in death.

Mr. Humphries had been in ill health for a number of years. His death, however, came as a surprise to his many friends and relatives in this parish who regret to hear of his passing.
