Fannie F. Newsom

Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie F. Newsom, 100, of Monroe, La., formerly of Kelly, La., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 11 in the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with the Rev. Larry Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Roberts Cemetery at Kelly, La.

Fannie Dunn Newsom was born on July 5, 1897 in Caldwell Parish to the union of Seborn and Rittie Ann May Dunn. She was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church and was the last living charter member, not to have moved her letter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. “Bob” Newsom and her son, Howard Newsom.

Survivors include: duaghter [sic daughter], Alene Newsom Brown, Monroe; three sons: Arvel Newsom, Ruston, La.; Robert Lindel Newsom, Kelly, La. and Burgess Newsom, Franklin, Virginia; one brother, Mr. Creston Dunn, Columbia; 19 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be: Jeffrey Newsom, Gregory Brown, Doyle Brown, James Michael Newsom, Burgess Newsom Jr., Wendell Lee Newsom, Dwayne Newsom, R. L. Newsom and Gary Newsom.

Fannie Dunn Newsom, 100 of Monroe, a homemaker formerly of Kelly, died Sunday. The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. today at Riser Funeral Home Chapel, Columbia. Burial is at Roberts Cemetery, Kelly. Visitation is from 8 a.m. until services at the funeral home.
