Mrs. James Roberts, 47, Passes Away
Mrs. Fannie Mae Roberts, nee Manley, wife of James Roberts, died last Thursday afternoon at 12:15 o'clock, at the
family home, 301 East State street, after an illness of a year with a complication of diseases, aged 47 years, eight
months, and 19 days.
Funeral services were held at the Schwarz Brothers chapel Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock by Rev. A. E. Klemme,
pastor of the Evangelical church. Interment was in Tiedemann cemetery.
The deceased was born at Iron Mountain, Mo., February 24, 1883, the daughter of A. R. Manley and Elizabeth Manley
nee Sweeney. She was united in marriage to James Roberts at East St. Louis on November 22, 1910. To this union were
born four children, three of whom survive. They are: Morris, Arthur, and George Roberts, all at home. One son,
Robert, died June 16, 1929 at the age of 9 years.
She also leaves one brother, Charles Manley, whereabouts unknown; two step-brothers, John E. Tiley of this city;
and George N. Tiley of Edwardsville; one step-sister, Mrs. Martha Young, Karval, Colo.; two half-sisters, Mrs.
Lavinia Foy, Pasadena, Cal.; and Mrs. Walter Hill, Los Angeles, Cal.; and one half-brother, Robert A. Manley, of
Chicago.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral, were: Mr. James Grey and Miss Nettie Grey, Mrs. B. Sweeney
and nieces and Mr. and Mrs. J. Ballard, of St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Vaughn, Mrs. Robert Bodycomb, Mrs. R.
Blythe, of Collinsville; Mr. and Mrs. George W. Tiley and daughter Fay, Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Mitchell, of
Edwardsville; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zoeller of Trenton, and Mrs. E. Decker of East St. Louis.
