Fay Blake Wood

Fay Blake Wood, age 85, of Birmingham died Tuesday morning, February 3, 2009. She was born in Blockton in 1923 and resided in Indian Springs before moving to Kirkwood by the River Independent Living. Mrs. Wood attended Fairfield High School and The University of Montevallo. She was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood and served in several Birmingham churches through music and as a Sunday School teacher.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Truman Blake of Fairfield Highlands; and a daughter, Ann Wood Barber of Houston, Texas.

Survivors include Mrs. Wood's loving husband of 64 years, Clyde D. Wood Jr.; two daughters, Beth Puckett (Steve) of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Donna Netherland (Reuben) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Lois B. Field of Tuscaloosa.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. the same day in the funeral home's chapel with Dr. Charles Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
