Flora Mae Dawson

Flora Mae Dawson, 82, of Gloster died July 27, 2001, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville.

Visitation is 1 p.m. today until 3 p.m. services at Brown Funeral Home chapel in Gloster. Bro. Gaylon Dawson and Bro. Kevin Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Methodist Protestant Cemetery.

Mrs. Dawson was born Feb. 15, 1919, in Amite County, the daughter of Arthur Brantley and Lillie Reeves Brantley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Roger Dawson Sr.; two daughters, Lemoyne Whittington and Angela Burkett; and a grandson, Stephen Douglas Freeman.

She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

She was retired from Oxford Laboratories in Foster City, Calif.

Survivors include six daughters, Louise Freeman and husband John of Adona, Ark., Lorraine Black and husband Thomas of Ackerman, Marion Freeman and husband Rex of Prairieville, La., Gwen Whittington and husband Lowell of Smithdale, Sherry Cook and husband Jim of Perryville, Ark., and Kathy Thomas and husband Ross of Gloster; two sons, John Roger ``D D'' Dawson Jr. and wife Jan of Adona, and Kevin Dawson and wife Becky of Perry, Ark.; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Pete Brantley of Gloster; and two sisters, Winnie B. Huff of Gloster and Sarah Whittington of Bossier City, La.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
