Floran E. Bufkin
Services for Mr. Floran E. Bufkin, 88, of Mansfield, were held
at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home
Chapel in Mansfield. Dr. William Crosby, and Dr. Scott Tatum
officiated. Burial was at Highland Cemetery.
Mr. Bufkin died Sunday, Dec. 27, at DeSoto General Hospital in
Mansfield, after a lengthy illness. He was a native and resident
of the Wallace community prior to moving to Mansfield 63 years
ago. Mr. Bufkin was a self employed builder, and former owner of
the Piggly Wiggly store in Mansfield, before retiring. He was a
member of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield, where he served
as a deacon for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Pruline [sic Pauline] Bufkin of
Mansfield; one son, David Bufkin of Houston, Tex.; three
brothers, Oscar Bufkin of Mansfield, Reggie Bufkin of Converse,
and Louis Bufkin of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Peggy Gerst of
Houston, and David Michael Bufkin of San Antonio, Texas; and
three great grandchildren, Derrick, Brian, and Kathleen.
Pallbearers were Buddy Troegel, Joe Moran, J. H. Williamson,
Warner Webster, Ray Lewing, James Patrick, Marshall Calhoun, and
Hines Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers were fellow members of the Baraca Sunday
School class.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the First Baptist
Church of Mansfield, or the charity of the donor's choice.
