Florence Parnell

Florence G. Parnell, age 98, died Monday, September 3, at her home.

She was born March 11, 1903, in Bradley County, a daughter of the late Wesley Gorman and Fronie McNabb Gorman. She was a homemaker, a member of Antioch Baptist Church, and the widow of Carl E. Parnell, who died November 25, 1965.

Survivors include two sons, Cecil Parnell of Houston, TX, and James Parnell of Warren; two daughters, Cindy Booker of Monticello, and Dorothy Taylor of Warren; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Gorman and Jeff Gorman; a half-brother, Charlie Gorman; a sister, Frances Hanes [sic Haynes]; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday, September 5, at Frazer Chapel with Rev. Floyd Taylor and Rev. Craig Jenkins officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist. Steven Booker and Travis Ivey sang. Burial was in Gravelridge Cemetery near Hermitage by Frazer Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy Taylor, Jerry Taylor, Larry Booker, Billy Ray Booker, Mike Parnell, Chris Booker and Donnie Parnell.

Honorary pallbearers were Scott Booker, Dr. Kerry Pennington, Gary Green, Alan Smith, Keith Booker, Craig Booker, Billy Gorman, Gene Derryberry, Melvin Smith and Kevin Taylor.
