Winnsboro man killed in head-on crash Sunday

A head-on crash at 12:55 a.m. Sunday resulted in the death of a 23 year-old Winnsboro man. Floyd Hendry was reportedly killed instantly in the two vehicle accident.

Investigating officer said a car going east driven by Loyd Dunn, 20 of Re. 1, Delhi, collided headon with a westbound car driven by Mr. Hendry. Mr. Hendry was killed instantly. His wife, Lannell, 20, sustained laceration of the face and a broken leg. She was taken to the Franklin Parish Hospital and later transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Monroe.

Dunn was booked with driving while under the influence of an intoxicating beverage, no drivers license and negligent homicide. He was released on $2,000 bond.

Mr. Hendry was on his way to attend the funeral of his four month old niece, Tammy Renne Womack, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Ricky T. Womack of Shreveport, who died Saturday at her residence after a short illness.

Joint funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday in the chapel of First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro with the Revs. Floyd Hawthorne, J. A. Hawthorne and Doyle Adams officiating. Burial was in Ogden Cemetery for both.

Mr. Hendry's survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lanell S. Hendry of Winnsboro; one daughter, Mrs. Tracy Hendry; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Drewey Hendry, all of Winnsboro; two brothers, Ralph Hendry of Winnsboro and D. W. Hendry of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Maxine Howell of Odessa, Tex., Mrs. Dianne Scriber of Ft. Necessity and Mrs. Mercill Womack of Shreveport; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Goldie Tarver of Winnsboro and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ola Hendry also of Winnsboro.

Pallbearers were Ralph Jennings, Norman Underwood, Billy Johnston, Kenneth Ingram, Ronnie Hatten and Milton Linder.

The Womack infant's survivors include the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Womack; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Drewey Hendry, all of Winnsboro; two sisters, Miss Melissa Womack and Miss Tina Womack, both of Shreveport.

Pallbearers were Sy B. Robinson, Billy Darden, Donald Womack and Barney Taylor.
