Mrs. Frances Knox

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- Services celebrating the life of Frances Knox, 66, will begin at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 9, 2006 in Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Dr. Floyd Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in Bistineau Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 P.M.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, September 8, 2006 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from noon until service time.

Frances was born in Jonesville, LA January 15, 1940 and passed away in Shreveport, LA September 6, 2006 at Grace Home following a brief illness.

Frances touched countless lives. She began a distinguished career with the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service in Concordia Parish in 1958. Her career brought her to Shreveport in 1959 to work in the Caddo Parish Cooperative Extension Service office. Frances continued her work in the Extension Service at the Pecan Research Station in 1984 until she retired in 1995. She served many years in the ARK-LA-TEX Agricultural Council as well as being the coordinator for the Louisiana Cattlemen's Association Annual Queen Pageant from 1967-1984. Frances was an active adult 4-H volunteer leader in Caddo and Bossier Parishes. Her other activities included membership in the Board of Director of Louisiana Pecan Growers Association, the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association of Caddo-Bossier, and Chairman of the Mental Health Advisory Council at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center. Frances was currently serving as an Administrative Assistant for BonChasse Land Company, LLC.

Frances was preceded in death by her father, Grover Hearse Bass. She is survived by her husband, John Wesley Knox; mother, Lottie Bass; Daughter, Shonda Batts and her husband, Kevin; step grandchildren, Keegan and Spencer Batts; an uncle, Walter Smithey and his wife, Patricia; and several cousins.

Pallbearers will be Jon Lowe, Andy Loftus, Jack Causey, David Ogletree, Scotty Henderson, and Linc Coleman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Williams, Bob Felkner, Gary Haggart, John Dyson, Jack Dillard, and current and former members of the ARK-LA-TEX Agricultural Council.

Frances requested her family and friends to make memorial contributions to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan), 2141 Rosecrans Ave. Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245 and/or Grace Home in lieu of flowers.
