Francis `Lee' Currey
Francis ``Lee'' Currey, 87, passed away Thursday April 6, 2006 in Paducah. Celebration of Life Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday April 8th at the First Baptist Church of Paducah with Pastor Robert J. Beck of Fort Worth and Pastor Anthony D Sisemore of Floydada officiating.
Lee's committal service will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery of Paducah.
Lee was born June 12, 1918 to J.H. and Alma (Lee) Currey in Eldorado, Okla. He married Elva Laseman on Dec 12, 1942 at Altus, Okla. and served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. They moved to Paducah in 1958 where Lee was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Paducah serving as a deacon, treasurer, and member of the Sunday School. Lee was also very active in his community.
He served on the City Council, and as Mayor of Paducah. He was also on the Selective Service Board and a member and past President of the Paducah Lions Club.
Lee also worked for the Panhandle Compress and Warehouse Company as a Superintendent until 1976.
He owned land and farm operations in Oklahoma and Texas all of his married life.
Lee is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elva (Laseman) Currey; one daughter & son-in-law, Janell and Rodney Rochelle of Paducah; one granddaughter, Tasha Hughes and her husband Rickey of Floydada; one grandson, Andy Rochelle and his wife Joy of Paducah; and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Lee's honor be made to the First Baptist Church of Paducah's Building Repair Fund.
