BAREFIELD, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

Died at 9:40 p.m. Thursday at Clinton Infirmary, Clinton. He was 72, a native of Plaquemine and a resident of Jackson. Body at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary with visiting at the Second Baptist Church in Jackson Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Religious services at the church with the Revs. James W. Taylor and Charles Duncan officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Survived by his wife, Estelle Barefield; three daughters, Mrs. Herman Ward, Tallulah, Mrs. Jeff Lowery, Winnsboro, Mrs. Asa Knox, Winnsboro; one son, Jesse Barefield, Gainsville, Tex.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Barbara Harper, Rayville, Mrs. Rowena Williamson, Winnsboro, Mrs. Wilma Lois Hales, Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Charlotte Bergeron, Jackson; two stepsons, Horace Smith, Rayville, Curtis Smith, Jackson; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Andrews; one brother, Bob Barefield, both of Winnsboro; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 11 step grandchildren.

He was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Jackson. Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, in charge of arrangements.
