FERRIDAY -- Services for Frank Whittington, 77, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at St. Francis North Hospital in Monroe, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Ferriday with the Revs. Wayne Gray and Don Tate officiating.
Burial will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Jigger, La., under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Whittington was born October 10, 1928, the son of George and Laura Whittington.
He was a lifetime resident of Ferriday. He founded Whittington Plumbing in 1955 and operated it until the time of his death with his sons. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ernestine Whittington; his parents; five brothers, George Lee, Lawrence, D.L., Walter and Royal Whittington; two sisters, Sena Ferrington and Clara Cain.
Survivors include daughters, Wanda Durham and her husband, Ferris of Ferriday and Kathy Newman and her husband, Ernie of Monroe; sons, Dennis Whittington and his wife, Judy and Scottie Whittington and his wife, Kathy, all of Ferriday and Lanie Whittington and his wife, Angel of Monroe; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jake Newman, Sam Newman, Daniel Whittington, Matthew Whittington, Tyson Durham, Bryant Whittington, Eric Guillot, Jim Whittington, Stanley Lea.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Newman, Neil Faulkner, Buddy Tanner, Albert Chapman, John Henry Lee, Dr. Huey Moak, Gene Thompson, A.J. Gibson and lifetime neighbors of Crestview.
