Frank Warren Mize passed away on Oct. 6, 2017. Frank was born in Forest, Mississippi, on Sept. 19, 1927. He attended Forest High School, Hinds Junior College and graduated from Mississippi State with an Engineering degree. Frank served in the Navy during World War II.
On Sept. 5, 1952, Frank married Doris Elizabeth Johnson of Morton, Mississippi, and they enjoyed 60 years together. He was in the oil business managing environmental safety with Gulf/Chevron which allowed him and Doris to travel extensively around the world. Frank's career led them to live in New Orleans, Louisiana and Bakersfield, California. Upon retirement they moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and later to Fairfield, California.
Frank enjoyed talking politics and sports and was an avid Mississippi State and New Orleans Saints football fan. Doris and Frank last made their home in Fairfield, California, where Frank especially enjoyed his golf and social friends at Green Valley Country Club and Rockville Presbyterian Fellowship. His last year was spent in Laurel, Mississippi, at Lynnwood Senior Care.
Frank was known for his warm and generous spirit. He loved to joke around, and his humor bit down hard on whatever subject caught his fancy.
He is survived by his cousin, Patricia Fell Knowles of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; and his parents, Robert Mize and Marsha Miller Mize.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at the Old Morton Cemetery, followed by a gathering of friends and family at Penn's Fish House Restaurant in Forest.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockville Presbyterian Fellowship, or the charity of the donor's choice.
