Franklin Ashton
Franklin Craig Ashton, age 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 21, 2008. Services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Stuart Baskin and Rev. Pam Leach officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Ashton passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at his home in Tyler.
He was born in San Angelo, Texas on October 5, 1937 to Joseph Franklin Ashton and Pauline Craig Ashton. He graduated from Lamesa High School, Lamesa, Texas and Trinity University in San Antonio with a degree in mathematics. He spent his career working on NASA projects starting in Virginia and retiring from Lockheed in Clear Lake, Texas. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tyler and served as a volunteer for the police department.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashton was preceded in death by a sister, Loraine Corn. He is survived by a loving family including his wife of 41 years, Margie Williams Ashton of Tyler; son, Craig Wesley Ashton of Seabrook; two brothers, William Bruce Ashton and wife Carol of San Antonio and Joseph B. Ashton and wife Cleone of Plano; five nephews and two nieces.
A loving husband, father, brother, uncle, co-worker, and friend, this Christian will be missed by all. The family especially wishes to extend their thanks to his doctors, the staff and nurses ant East Texas Medical Center, his church family and the Tyler Police Department for their care and devotion.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
