Fred Childers' Funeral Is Set Here Tuesday

Fred C. Childers, Sr., 63, for a number of years a deputy sheriff serving under Sheriff Milton Coverdale, died in a Monroe hospital early Sunday. He had been ill a short time.

The funeral will be held in Ridge Avenue Church, with the pastor, Rev. A. T. Mitchell, officiating, Tuesday at 2 p.m. He will be assisted by Rev. Glenn Wright. Interment will be in Hasley Cemetery with the Mulhearn Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Childers was a member of the Ridge Avenue Baptist Church.

He was widely known throughout the entire parish, and since leaving the sheriff's office had been engaged in the contracting business.

He leaves two sons, F. C. Childers, Jr., Miami, Fla.; Milton A. Childers, West Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. Merlene Bradford, West Monroe; a brother, W. Lee Childers, West Monroe; a sister, Mrs. Ida Walters, Shreveport; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Fred C. Childers, Sr., 63, was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Ridge Avenue Church with the pastor, Rev. A. T. Mitchell, officiating, assisted by Rev. Glenn Wright. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.

He leaves two sons, F. C. Childers, Jr., Miami, Fla.; Milton A. Childers, West Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. Merlene Bradford, West Monroe; a brother, W. Lee Childers, West Monroe; a sister, Mrs. Ida Walters, Shreveport; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Henry Young, J. E. Muckelroy, W. C. Salley, W. A. Lolley, M. C. Carroll, Cobb Sawyer.
