Freddie M. Jones

Freddie Merle Jones, 45, of Emporia, Kan., a native of Shreveport, died Tuesday in St. Mary's Hospital in Emporia following a long illness.

Miss Jones had been a resident of Emporia for 18 years where she was a retired teacher in physical education at Emporia Kansas State University.

Miss Jones was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy in Shreveport and held a B.S. degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. She had an M.S. degree from Texas Womens University in Denton, Texas.

A mass will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia with Blair Colonial Mortuary in charge.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport with the Rev. Murry Clayton, pastor of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Osborn's Funeral Home.

Miss Jones is survived by her mother, Patsy Wallace Jones of Shreveport; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Fred Wallace of Bunkie; and one brother, Commander Keith Jones of Pensacola, Fla.
