HAZLEHURST -- Furman L. Whittington, 71, a retired businessman, died of heart failure Sunday at home.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Breeland Funeral Home in Jackson with burial in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today.

Mr. Whittington, a Crystal Springs native, was a former New Orleans and Jackson resident. He owned and operated Whittington & Son Truck Service until his retirement. He was a member of Westhaven Baptist Church.

Survivors include: sons, Furman P. Whittington of Jackson and Bobby Whittington of New Orleans; brothers, Henry White [sic Wyatt] Whittington Jr. of Bude and Pete Whittington of Hazlehurst; sisters, Dorothy Barry [sic Berry] of Hazlehurst, Edna May of Petal and Lillian Gill of Churchill; and a granddaughter.
