Gale Rowland

Gale Martin Rowland, 82, of McGehee, died April 13, 2000, at McGehee-Desha County Hospital.

He was born November 3, 1917, at Dumas, to the late Edgar Columbus Rowland and Madarasz Martin Rowland.

He graduated from Dumas High School and attended Mississippi State College.

He was a former Desha County circuit clerk.

He flew more than 50 missions during World War II in Europe.

He was also a member of First United Methodist Church at McGehee and taught the men's ``Upper Room'' Sunday School class for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose B. Rowland; a son, Gale Martin Rowland Jr.; a brother, James Rowland.

Survivors include a son, Lloyd Rowland of Clifton, Virginia; a brother, Charles Rowland of Pine Bluff; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in McGehee Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be handled by McGehee Griffin Funeral Service.
