Galen Lee Weese
Galen Lee Weese, 53, DeSoto, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 31, 1999, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam, KS. Funeral Services will be January 5, 2000, at the DeSoto Baptist Church, burial in the DeSoto Cemetery, DeSoto, Kansas.
He was born March 7, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Daniel Fredrick Weese and Bessie Carothers Weese.
He moved with his family to DeSoto when he was a child and he lived there since. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1964.
He married Patricia Kay Calcote, Nov. 23, 1966, in Altus Oklahoma. He worked for 31 years in maintenance for the Ford parts district bution plant, Lenexa. He also spent time with King Radio, Olathe. He was a member of the UAW Local Union of Kansas City and he was a former member of the DeSoto zoning board. He was also a former member of the DeSoto Jaycees.
Weese was a member of DeSoto Baptist Church, serving as deacon and actively helping at the church.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam conflict.
Preceding him in death is his father.
Survivors include his mother, Bessie Carothers Weese, DeSoto, his wife Patricia of the home; two sons, Timothy L. Weese, Shawnee and Jason S. Weese, Pittsburg; three brothers,Wayne Weese, Hutchinson, Ronald Weese, DeSoto and Donald Weese, Gardner; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at DeSoto Baptist Church, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5. Burial will be held afterward at the DeSoto Cemetery. The family will receive friends from
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 at DeSoto Baptist Church. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Stain Glass Fund at the DeSoto Baptist Church, care of Bruce Funeral Home, P.O. box 192, Gardner, Kansas, 66030.
