HAMILTON -- Gary Sikes, 85, of Hamilton passed away at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. He was born May 22, 1928 in Winnfield, La., son of the late Dennis Eugene Sikes and wife Myrdis nee Dark.

Gary served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he attended and graduated from Louisiana Tech and became a chemical engineer. He worked for companies like Kaiser Aluminum and Ormet Aluminum Corp. where he was working at the time of his retirement in 1996.

He was a pilot and flew his own Beechcraft for years. Gary traveled extensively in his Airstream and settled in Hamilton in 1996. Gary was a gentle man and much loved by his family and friends. He was a Christian and a celebration of life was an ongoing thing with him throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Scaccia who had two sons.

Surviving include his wife Carol of Hamilton; son, Terry Sikes and wife Becky and Family of Denham Springs, La., including grandsons, Steven and Jacob; step-daughter, Deborah Halford of Brighton, Colo.; brother, Jay and wife Joanne Sikes nee Scaccia of Atlanta, Ga. and their children David and Cindy; nephews, Dennis Scaccia and family of Covington, La. and Vincent Scaccia, Jr and family of New Mexico.
