GAYNELL EVANS, TAYLORSVILLE, MS

Gaynell Evans, 86, of Taylorsville, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012. He was born in Pineville, MS on March 11, 1926, a son of the late Thomas and Lear (Dickerson) Evans.

Mr. Evans served in the U.S. Navy in the WW II and Korean wars; was a Mason, and also served as a deacon at Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee.

He is survived by: wife, Mary (Boykin) Evans; daughter, Wanda Evans (Mark) Boyles of Hattiesburg; and a son William Mac (Emily) Evans of Taylorsville. Other survivors include: grandchildren, Bret (Kristy) Boyles, Bethany Boyles (Jeb) Seal, Zach Evans, and Dylan Evans; great grandchild, Parker Boyles.

He was preceded in death by: son, Robert G. “Bob” Evans, daughter-in-law Paula Evans, great grandchildren, Bailey Boyles, and Mary Reagan Seal.

Arrangements were entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. Visitation will be Sunday December 2, 2012, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Tutor Funeral Home Chapel, then Monday December 3, 2012, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Taylorville, Ms with services to follow. Dr. Frankie Clark, Rev. Pete Pearson, and Rev. Danny Lanier will be officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Smith County.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary Gaynell Evans scholarship fund at Taylorsville Baptist Church, Highway 37 N, Taylorsville, MS 39168.
