George Aurthur “G.A.” Marshall

JACKSONVILLE - Services for George Aurthur “G.A.” Marshall, 81, Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with the Revs. David Hallum and Hank Chandler and Charles Dickerson officiating.

Graveside services will be in Still Waters Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Marshall died Oct. 12, 2006, in Tyler.

He was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Brushy Creek to George Walter and Eula Mae Harp Marshall. He served in the Army in the Calvary Division under the command of Gen. George S. Patton, driving a tank. He was employed at S&K Church Furniture for 18 years, was owner of M&S Gulf Station for 26 years, employed by Thompson Funeral Home and, in 2003, joined the Autry Funeral Home staff. He was a member of Afton Grove Baptist Church and was a former member of the Lion's Club.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jean Marshall.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Marshall, Jacksonville; sons, Pat Marshall, Jacksonville, Mike Marshall, Richmond; daughters, Vicki Chambless, Canton, and Kathy Hawkins, Lake Palestine; stepson Mike Dennis, Frankston; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three stepgrandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Dickerson, Frank Diamont, James Williams, Louis Clakley, Bill Lang and Eddie Smith.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
