GEORGE ALTON MCNEIL
George Alton McNeil, 85, of Bay Springs, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Jasper General Nursing Home in Bay Springs. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs, with burial in Antioch Cemetery in Louin. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with District One in Jasper County. He attended Antioch Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie Estis and Lola Ellen Welch McNeil; two sons, George Burdette McNeil and Dennis Ray McNeil; one daughter, Margaret McNeil; three brothers, Edwin ``Buddy'' McNeil, Louie McNeil and Louis McNeil; and one sister, Vermelle Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Sykes McNeil; three sons, George Vinson McNeil of Raleigh, Donald Mitchell McNeil of Stringer and Charles Edison McNeil of Bay Springs; two daughters, Kathy Pugh of Louin and Cindy Bass of Mize; two sisters, Eunice Phillips of Louin and Nita M. Eubanks of Wilmer, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs was in charge of arrangements.
