BENTON FUNERAL TO BE HELD TODAY
Retired Shoe Manufacturer Dies at Hospital; Maury Native
George C. Benton, 74, retired shoe merchant who died Tuesday night at a local hospital, will be buried this afternoon in Mt. Olivet Cemetery after funeral services at 2 o'clock at the Bracey-Welsh Funeral Home, with Elder E. C. Cullum officiating.
Mr. Benton was born and reared in Maury County but had made his home here for more than half a century. He retired from active business five years ago on account of his health. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. L. E. Thompson and Mrs. A. G. Rutherford of Nashville; a son, J. H. Benton of Ponca City, Okla.; and two sisters, Mrs. R. Y. Batey of Lewisburg and Mrs. Jane Pinkston of Nashville.
