Dr. George D. Duby
Dr. George D. Duby passed away on January 22, 2007 at the family home in Chehalis, WA. He leaves behind his much loved wife, June Cornelius Duby, June-bug to all her friends, one son, Devere Duby, daughter & Son-in-law Sherry and Dr. John Isted, grandson Craig Fahey, granddaughter Heidi Freidman and great grandson Jacob Freidman, brother & sister-in-law William C. & Ann Duby.
He was proceeded in death by parents William & Hazel Duby, and brother Ralph.
Dr. Duby began his practice of veterinary medicine in Centralia, Washington in 1944. He has held various positions in the SPSVMA and was president during 1955-56. He is a past president of the WSVMA, and in 1959, he was appointed by Gov. Albert Rosellini to the State Board of Veterinary governors and served a five year term as chairman of the Veterinary Licensing Board for the Washington State Department of Licensing.
During his lifetime, Dr. Duby, received many honors and awards. He was an outstanding veterinarian, devoting his time and knowledge to advance veterinary medicine in the state. He was the first veterinarian from the United States to be invited to the Academy of Veterinary Medicine in the Soviet Union. He proceeded to travel through out the world for the purpose of setting up disease control centers. He was also a published author.
Dr. Duby was connected with numerous associations and served on many committees. Some of those were: Afifi Shrine, Masonic Lodge, Royal Arch Masons, Commandery and Elks. He served on the Centralia College Agriculture advisory board for several years. He was an honored member of the Intermountain Veterinary Medicine.
In 1979 after 36 years of practice Centralia, he retired to spend time in his travels with his beloved June-Bug and his children and grandchildren.
A Celebration Of Life will be held to honor Dr. Duby on Tuesday, January 30th at 1:00 pm at the Woodland Estates in Chehalis, Washington.
