GEORGE A. GREGORY

SULPHUR -- Funeral services for George A. Gregory, 40, of 1422 Convent Dr. will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Hixson Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Bartlett, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Following the services in Sulphur, the body will be taken to the First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill where services will be at 3 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be in the City Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.

Mr. Gregory died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday in West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital following a long illness.

A native of Pleasant Hill, he had lived in Sulphur 15 years. He was a warehouse clerk at Cities Service Oil Co.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Fifth Marine Division in the invasion of Iwo Jima. He was a member of Sulphur Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8107, the First Baptist Church of Sulphur, the Pipefitters Union Local 106 and Sulphur Masonic Lodge 424.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lois Gregory, a Sulphur High School teacher; two daughters, Melissa Ann and Melinda Sue Gregory, both of Sulphur; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Gregory of Pleasant Hill; three brothers, J. D. and Jerry Gregory, both of Pleasant Hill, and Thomas Gregory of Mansfield, and one sister, Mrs. Thomas Emmons of Shreveport.

George Gregory

George Gregory, 40, died in a Sulphur hospital, Wednesday, Feb. 9, after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m., in the First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, with the Rev. Cecil Salley officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Sulphur.

Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Miss Melissa Gregory, and Miss Melinda, both of Sulphur; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Gregory Sr. of Pleasant Hill; one sister, Mrs. Lucille Emmons of Shreveport; and three brothers, Jerry Gregory, and J. D. Gregory Jr., both of Pleasant Hill, and Thomas Gregory of Mansfield.
