George E. Hobbs, 88, retired supervisor for Jackson RediMix Masonry Division, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at home. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Lakewood Funeral Home. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mr. Hobbs was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Seabees. He was a former resident of Terry. He was a retired supervisor with the Masonry division of Jackson RediMix. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene J. Hobbs, in December of 2000.

Survivors include: sister, Frances Schmidt of Madison; four nieces, Mary Fran Peters of Chicago, Donna Lowry of Atlanta, Florette Hootsell of Madison and Margaret Barron of Utica; and four nephews, Duane Braley of New Hope, Minn., Edward Hobbs Jr. of Hazlehurst, Robert Hobbs of Brandon and Charles H. Hobbs of Canada.
