George H. Torbert
FAWN GROVE -- George H. ``Jud'' Torbert, 79, of Fawn Grove, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday at Manor Care Dallastown. He was the companion of Betty R. Grayce.
The service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta. Burial will be private. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pastor Rodney Stamper will officiate.
Mr. Torbert was born March 15, 1923, in Fawn Township. He was the son of the late William David and Alverta Mae Smeltzer Torbert.
He was a truck driver for Black and Decker, retiring after 16 years of service; after retirement, he was an electrician with George H. Torbert and Son Electricians in Fawn Grove. He was a steel guitarist and played with famous musicians. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the military police.
Mr. Torbert also is survived by two sons, Bobby Torbert of Louisiana and Thomas Torbert of Delta; three daughters, Shirley Hanna of Manheim, Linda Warner of Hayward, Wis., and Kay Eaton of Seven Valleys; a stepson, Patrick Bush of Goodview, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Curtis H. Torbert of York and Andrew H. Torbert of Fawn Grove; and a sister, Marie Hostler of Paisley, Fla.
