Services for George Lacy Whittington, age 87, of Clarks will be
held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2003 from the Clarks United
Pentecostal Church in Clarks with Rev. E.R. Johnson, Rev. Sherman Jones
and Rev. Gary Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Old
Bethel Cemetery west of Clarks.
Mr. Whittington was born in Gloster, Ms. on March 26, 1916 to
the union of John Larry and Matilda Williams Whittington and died
Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at his residence.
He was a retired press operator with Brown Container. He was a
member of the Clarks United Pentecostal Church where he was devoted
to the youth in the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Mildred Cotten
Whittington, his son: Lacy Wayne Whittington, his daughter: Karen
Janet Whittington, his granddaughter: Pamela Renee Fitzgerald, his
brothers: Reginald Eugene Whittington and Wade F. Whittington and
his sister: Virgie Whittington Legg.
Survivors include his son: Gerald Whittington of Columbia, his
daughters: Johnnie W. Brister of Ruth, Ms., Judy W. Fitzgerald and
Reba W. Thomas both of Clarks, his brother: John Larry Whittington
of DeRidder, his sister: Linda Gail Green of North Carolina, ten grand-
children, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grand-
children.
Pallbearers will be Bobby W. Fitzgerald, Christopher Fitzgerald, Joey
Brister, Trey Thames, Ashley Thomas, Chip Price and Steve May.
Honorary pallbearers are Ray Hatten and Austin Fitzgerald.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4 p.m. until time of services at the
church.
