George L. McCarthy [sic McCarty] Rites On Saturday

SAN BENITO, July 3 -- Services will be held in Clay Hall chapel Saturday at 4 p.m. for George Lafayette McCarty, 74, a retired farmer who died at his home three and one-half miles southwest of San Benito Thursday at 11:40 p.m.

The Rev. E. L. Vance of the First Baptist church of Rio Hondo will officiate. Interment will be in the Mont Meta cemetery with Clay Hall Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. McCarty came to Rio Hondo in 1922 from Alto. He was a deacon in the Baptist church.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Carl C. Hoffman of Okeechobee, Fla.; two sons, C. B. McCarty of McCarney and G. E. McCarty of San Benito; one sister, Mrs. Billie Harris; one brother, W. E. McCarty of Wells; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Aubry Heath, George Bishop, Mr. Arnett, P. A. Wooldridge, Chester Grantham, and Gene Hallbeck.
