JONES, GEORGE WALLACE “PRETTY”
Retired private and personal secretary for many years to Wade O. Martin Jr., former secretary of state of Louisiana, she died at 7 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2000, at St. James Place. She was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Shreveport. Graveside services in Roselawn Memorial Park at 3 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Dr. Philip Woodland.
Survived by a sister, Virginia Wallace Ward, Baton Rouge; a brother and sister-in-law, Thompson M. “Tommy” and Rita B. Wallace, Baton Rouge; a nephew, George Baker Wallace, Baton Rouge; two nieces, Kathleen Delaune and E.V. Wallace, both of Baton Rouge; cousins, Mary Hebert, Merett McDonald Jr., Julie Dobrowolski and Lucy Hair, all of Baton Rouge, H. Scott Dunlop, Shreveport, Nancy Hagan, Hammond, and Virginia Hinnant, Charlotte, N.C.; dear friends, the Murphy family; and other relatives in Louisiana and North Carolina.
Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wall Jones; mother, Betty Long Wallace; and father, George M. Wallace, who was executive counsel forseven governors.
She was of the Presbyterian faith. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
