George Riley Walsh Sr.
George Riley Walsh Sr., 77, of Liberty, died Aug. 7, 1999, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville.
Services were 10 a.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty. Bro. Melvin Blalock and Bro. Aubrey Smith officiated. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Walsh was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Amite County. He was the son of William A. and Myrtis Short Walsh.
A cashier with the Amite County Welfare Department, he was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ione Whittington Walsh; five brothers, Hatton, Raiford, Henry Marshall, Will David and Robert Lee ``Tyko'' Walsh; and two sisters, Avis Jackson and Mattie Mae Harvey.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, George R.Walsh Jr. and Jan, and Warren and Vicki Walsh, all of Liberty; one daughter, Denise Walsh of Pascagoula; three grandchildren, Justin, Heather and Bill Walsh; two brothers, J.T. Walsh of Liberty and Carl Walsh of Slidell, La.; and two sisters, Marjorie Dean Conn of Hattiesburg and Clara Bell Burns of New Orleans.
