George Spencer
SINTON -- Funeral services for
George Spencer, 59, who died yesterday
afternoon at a local hospital, will be held at 10 a.m.
tomorrow in the chapel of Starbuck Funeral Home here,
with the Rev. C. J. Mann, pastor of Sinton Methodist Church,
officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted in Taft Cemetery.
Spencer had a heart attack several days ago. A native of
Coryell County, he had moved here 20 years ago.
He was a veteran Plymouth Oil Co. employe, and was a gauger
in the White Point oil field. He had worked for Plymouth for 30
years.
Spencer, who had certificates of proficiency in all Masonic bodies,
was recognized as one of the leading degree instructors in
South Texas. He was a member of Big Lake Lodge No. 1203,
and the Consistory, El Maida Shrine Temple, and Chapter and
Scottish Rites bodies, all of El Paso.
He belonged to the First Methodist Church here and the Odd
Fellows Lodge in Miles, Texas.
Surviving are his wife; three brothers, Jim Spencer of Sinton,
Scottie Fletcher of McCarney, and Robert Fletcher of Miles; three
sisters, Mrs. Beulah Goff of San Angelo, Mrs. Rosa Rosser of
Miles, and Mrs. S. R. Moon of Fort Worth; his mother, Mrs.
Lula Fletcher, also of Fort Worth; two stepdaughters,
Mrs. Jack Paterson of Taft and Mrs. Ray Morgan of Houston,
two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
