MAURY CITIZEN KILLED WHEN HIT BY TRAIN
Rites for G. W. Andrews, 78, Held at Groveland.
COLUMBIA, Tenn., July 20 -- (Spl.) -- Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for G. W. Andrews, 78, of Groveland, who died Saturday night from injuries sustained when he was struck by a special train on the N. C. & St. L. tracks at Groveland, near Worley's Store.
Mr. Andrews, prominent farmer of the Groveland community on the Lewisburg pike, was driving a horse from the tracks when the train struck him fracturing his skull. He was sent to the King's Daughters hospital here but died en route.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Ann Gilliam, and seven children: J. E. and G. O. Andrews of Groveland; O. B. Andrews of Deckers; Mrs. W. J. Gibson of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. J. E. Moser, of Groveland; Mrs. J. T. Garrett, of Alabama and Mrs. Gertrude Baird, of Nashville. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren as well as by a brother, T. N. Andrews of this county, and a sister, Miss Dovey McCay of Lewisburg.
The funeral services were conducted by Elder Howard Braden, at the residence at Groveland at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with burial in Haynes cemetery at Bryant Station.
