George W. Mims Is Taken By Death

George W. Mims, age 67, died early today at his home in the Valley Hill community, having been in failing health for the past several years.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at five o'clock from the Valley Hill Methodist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. J. W. York, of Sunflower. Interment will be made in the church cemetery, with Williams Funeral Home in charge.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mims, and 14 children. They are W. G. Mims, Helena, Ark., R. A. Mims, Highlandale, G. W. Mims, Jr., Wickenburg, Ariz., L. L. Mims, James A. Mims, John W. Mims, Alfred Mims, Mrs. Dent Goff, Mrs. L. A. Lackey, Mrs. L. M. Diggin, Mrs. Guy Jones, Mrs. H. Y. Corn, Mrs. Sam Garrard, of Greenwood, and Mrs. S. W. Harrison, of Eupora.

A large number of grandchildren and four brothers also survive.

Mr. Mims had resided in the Valley Hill community for the past forty years and was a member of the Valley Hill Methodist Church, to which he was a large contributor.

Pall bearers will be Cleveland Goff, Herman Goff, John LeFlore, Charlie LeFlore, Ralph Taylor, W. D. Felt, Jim Hogue and Clyde Hogue. Friends of the family will compose the honorary escort.
